There's a Storm coming !!
Mark 4:35-41
As I was watching a report on The Weather Channel
recently. The meteorologist said something that caught
my spiritual hear. He reported on one certain area of
southern Florida who had several slow Hurricane
seasons in a row. The people in this particular area were
having problems getting the supplies they needed for the
category 4 STORM that was headed their way. He went
on to say; "the residents have been lackadaisical in their
preparation due to several years without a major
STORM".
Many believers in the body of Christ have become
ill-prepared for the "storms of life" due to a season or
season's without them. If the Lord has blessed you to the
point of being storm less then, thank God for that !But,
do not think that you are storm immune ! Just know that,
just like hurricane season may have passed you by. Next
season, the storm will have built up strength and is
coming this season with double force.
As we come to our text. Jesus says to his disciples in
v35;"Let "us" go to the other side".In other words, where
we are headed(A Storm), I'm going with you! It is
important to note that, generally our Lord does not tell us
where we are headed. Only, let "us" go to the other side.
Let "us" go to the other side of your marriage,your
fears,your ministry,your job,your family ! This is where the
component called "Faith" comes into play. I'm following
Jesus not knowing where I'm going or how I'm getting
there. I'm believing that because he is omniscient, he
knows how were getting there. I'm believing that because
he is omnipotent, he can handle whatever happens
along the way.Therefore, I don't have to be stressed out
about my marriage,my fears,my ministry,my job,my
family.
The disciples are in a boat and in v37 it says;a furious
windstorm came up and the waves produced by this
wind swamped the boat.I believe this storm was sent to
move them !Your storm may be sent to make you and
not break you ! As I look back over my life
experiences(Storms). It was in my most furious storms of
life that I learned to trust him ! And now I'm much
stronger because of it. It's all in your attitude towards
your storm.
Beloved, sometimes God has to "rock your boat" in
order to move it! Many of us get into a place of comfort
and complacency. A dangerous place to be. Had the
storm never come, you would have stayed in your place
of spiritual mediocrity. The Lord loves you too much to let
you stay where you are.He loves you too much to let your
boat tip over in the storm !
In v38, Jesus is awaken by his disciples.They say to
him; "Lord,don't you care if we drown ? " Jesus stands
up, wipes the sleep from his eyes and rebukes the wind
and says to the waves. Peace,be still !!! Jesus has the
authority to speak to your situation and bring calm !He
has the authority to speak to cancer,to fear,to divorce,to
addiction and to whatever situation you may face. So the
next time you face some adversity in your life . Don't
forget what Jesus said in v35. Let "US" go to the other
side !!!!
