A Word from Pastor Steve ;
Don't be afraid of what's coming !!
Matthew 14: 22-27
This passage of scripture has always
puzzled me in that, I could never understand why the
disciples did not recognize JESUS as he was walking on
the lake. However, as I was reading and praying over this
passage the other day. The Lord began to give me some
great insight.
Have you ever met someone and their face was very
familiar to you but, you just could not seem to place their
face. All of us have been in this situation before. The first
thing we normally ask that person is; Where do I know
you from ? If you can figure out the place ("context") in
which you met that person, you will remember who they
are and where you met them.In the same "context",
when you see wreaths and lights being hung outside,
you know it is Christmas. The "context" tells you what's
happening or what's going on.Apply that same principle
to this passage of scripture.
v22 Jesus made(constrained) the disciples get in the
boat. He forced them. Then he went off to pray. He
literally sent them off into a storm alone. While they were
in the middle of this storm, by themselves. Jesus comes
to them walking on water and the disciples did not
recognize him ! They thought he was a ghost !
Beloved, Have you ever felt like you were alone in a
storm by yourself ? Have you ever felt like Jesus wasn't
there with you ? Maybe he was off praying and
interceding on your behalf ! Maybe he was placing you in
a different "context" to show you something he couldn't
show you anyway else !
Which brings me to my conclusion. The disciples were
with Jesus when he ; delivered the sermon on the
mount, fed 5000 , healed a woman with a issue of
blood, healed a lame man who was lowered down thru a
roof. They were there at the pool of Bethsaida, they were
there when the Sanhedrin was after him. But, they had
never seen Jesus in this "context" before. They had
never seen him walk on water. They only saw him doing
miracles on dry land. The next time you are facing trials &
tribulations (storms) in your life. Don't be afraid !
Perhaps this is your season to see the Lord move in a
way that is out of "context". Don't be afraid of what's
coming !
